A total of 19 tenders,11 as temporary consortiums (UTEs), have been presented to the Management Commission for the Urbanisation project of the first phase of Zorrotzaurre. The final date for presentation was today at midday. The 19 tenders received, involve 34 companies, the majority (19) from Bizkaia. Of the rest, 4 are from Madrid, 2 from Barcelona, 2 from Valencia, 5 from other parts of Spain and the remainder are foreign (USA and Holland). The Management Commission has selected the five finalists in the competitive call for tenders for the Zorrotzaurre open spaces (or green zones). Vicinay Cadenas, the world-leading manufacturer of marine and mooring chains has begun the construction of a new factory in Sestao to where it will transfer all its operations currently in Zorrotzaurre once it is finished. The new factory, which will accommodate all the 230 current employees, will have new machinery to optimise the manufacturing processes on the single site. Currently, different processes are handled on different sites in Zorrotzaurre. The new factory is located on a 35,000m2 site in La Mudela, next to the La Naval shipyard.
