The Publisher ZAWP has just launched the book, ‘The Island that Never Was. An English castaway in Bilbao’ by Robert Alcock, biologist and neighbour of Zorrotzaurre.

The book is a personal diary of 15 years on the península that is soon to become an island and which is mainly undiscovered, even by people from Bilbao.

The book contains a varied cast of different characters, Bertold Brecht and Zaha Hadid, lizards and kingfishers, Gargantua the child-swallowing float from fiestas and the thousand-eyed beast, squatters and graffiti artists, speculators and artists.

Imaginary future alternatives for the quarter are also examined.
