Initial approval of the Zorrotzaurre Urbanisation Programme

Initial approval of the Zorrotzaurre Urbanisation Programme (PAU), for the Integrated Action 1, was given by the Bilbao City Council, today. As of publication of the agreement in the Official Bizkaia Gazette, the public documentation consultation period which lasts 20 working days.

The PAU is the technical documentation, which determines how Zorrotzaurre is to be managed. It defines the phases of execution, the timetable (setting maximum start and finish dates for the works) and the cost.

Together with the PAU, the Draft Project for the urbanisation of Zorrotzaurre, a requirement of the Basque Country Law on Land Development, was approved.

The approved document indicates that:

• The Zorrotzaurre Integrated Action 1 is divided into 2 Execution Units. The first, of 389,995 m², includes the entire right bank of the Deusto Canal and the points north and south of the future island. The second unit, of 167,064 m² is made up of the land situated in the centre of the current peninsula. The Execution Unit 1 is divided into 4 areas for urbanisation purposes.
• With regard to the San Ignacio bridge connection, the document indicates that the works should begin within a maximum of 24 months from definitive approval of the Land Reorganisation Project.
• The estimated cost of the total urbanisation works for the Integrated Action 1 is 197 million Euros, divided into 138 million Euros for the Execution Unit 1 and 59 million Euros for the Execution Unit 2.
