As Fabrik takes the last step to open the doors to local talent next year in Zorrotzaurre

Zorrotzaurre is about to take an important step forward to complete its transformation from an industrial district to an urban park. As Fabrik, the project co-financed by the European Union that will drive advanced services for the industry 4.0 and the digital economy, is in its final phase. So far, part of the exterior building has been reinforced, and in order to host the project, interior preparation work and demolition of surrounding buildings begin. The City Council approved last Thursday the budget adjustment necessary to give the final boost. The interior will be reformed, surrounding buildings will be demolished and the chimney will be maintained. It is a work of many years with a very close public and private collaboration that, according to Gotzone Sagardui, coordinator of Bilbao City Council’s Mayor, consolidates the urban technology park that companies were asking for. “Hopefully the 10.000 square meters of the Beta II building where this project is going to be located will be available for the next course”, says Sagardui, confident that training in this new centre will begin in September 2020. It will be a definitive step for the island.
