The Works to open up the Deusto canal began today
This morning the works to completely open up the Deusto Canal and to build the new bridge, which will join Deusto to Zorrotzaurre, began. The two operations, which will be carried out simultaneously over a period of 16 months, are to be undertaken by the consortium formed by Exbasa, Viuda de Sáinz, Balzola and Urssa. Management of the works is to be carried out by TYPSA (the building Project designer) and Dinam Ingeniería. The estimated cost of the works stands at 21.5 million Euros (VAT included). The works to open up the Deusto canal will begin next May 14th
The works to definitively open up the Deusto canal and the construction of the new bridge between Deusto and Zorrotzaurre will begin next Wednesday, May 14th. This was confirmed this morning in a press conference held by Covadonga Solaguren, Vice-minister for Housing of the Basque Government and José Luis Sabas Bilbao City Councillor responsible for Works and Services. The opening of the Deusto canal, which will convert Zorrotzaurre into an island was deemed necessary by the different hydrological studies undertaken in order to minimise the risk of flooding in Zorrotzaurre and in the surrounding areas of Bilbao. Reception of allegations to the Zorrotzaurre Land Reorganisation Project
At the end of the public disclosure period of the Land Reorganisation Project of the Execution Unit 1 of the Integrated Action Plan 1 of Zorrotzaurre, 44 allegations were received. Of these, 31 were presented by plot owners, 9 by companies operating in the area which need to transfer their activities and the other 4 by other agents involved. The Zorrotzaurre Management Commission, after due analysis of the allegations presented will decide on the acceptance or not of the proposals and will send its report to the Bilbao City Council.
