Iñaki Azkuna, the fundamental proponent of the Zorrotzaurre urban regeneration project has died
Yesterday afternoon, Iñaki Azkuna, Mayor of Bilbao and, among other posts, the Chairman of the Zorrotzaurre Management Commission, died. Azkuna was, from the first day, a fundamental protagonist in the urban regeneration project of Zorrotzaurre. He promoted and brought together the political, economic and social forces necessary to achieve the transformation of this quarter into a new space for the economic and social development of Bilbao. 22 tenders for the contracting of the drawing up of the San Ignacio Zorrotzaurre bridge project
A total of 22 tenders (6 structured as consortiums) have been presented for the drawing up of the San Ignacio – Zorrotzaurre bridge project. The presentation period closed at midday today. The drawing up of the project and the construction of the bridge will be financed by the Basque Government and managed by the Management Commission. The 22 tenders received involve 29 engineering companies which have working for them, the most important Spanish engineers specialised in bridge construction. The contract for the works to open up the Deusto Canal and for the new bridge has been awarded.
Bilbao City Council have provisionally awarded the works to open up the Deusto Canal for the building of the Deusto – Zorrotzaurre bridge to the Exbasa, Viuda de Sainz and Urssa Consortium. The winning consortium tendered a bid for 17.3 million Euros (before VAT) for the contract with a delivery date of 18 months. 9 Consortiums made up of 32 companies presented tenders against an initial bidding price set at 24.2 million Euros (before VAT). s.
