The demolition of five unoccupied Mefesa buildings underway

22/09/2015

The Zorrotzaurre Contracting Board has commenced the demolition this week of five unoccupied buildings that belonged to the company Mefesa. The buildings housed installations for the manufacture of hard metal alloys.

Two other Mefesa buildings (the laboratory and the offices) have been preserved and will house services in the future.

The demolition, which is being carried out under the most complete waste management protocols, will free up 11,620m2 of land for future construction as defined in the Special Plan for the area.

Zandesa, the company carrying out the demolition, has 12 weeks for the works and the budget approved stands at 104,720 euros.

In the six previous demolition phases carried out since 2008 under the Zorrotzaurre urban regeneration Project, almost 56,000m2 of land have been freed up.
