Zorrotzaurre
Second anniversary of the passing of Zaha Hadid, the architect who designed the Zorrotzaurre Master Plan
Two years ago today the Anglo-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid died from a heart attack at the age of 65.
Zaha Hadid, winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize 2004, was the mind behind, amongst many other prestigious works, the Zorrotzaurre Master Plan, both the early 2004 version and the review undertaken in 2007, which included fully opening the Deusto Canal, thus converting the current Zorrotzaurre peninsula into an island.
Her talent and creativity were decisive for making an integral and sustainable plan possible that would convert a degraded space in Bilbao into a new city district full of economic and social opportunities.
