Zorrotzaurre
Signing of a collaboration agreement between government authorities to undertake the filling in of Deusto’s Channel
This morning, a collaboration agreement was signed in the head offices of the Bilbao Port Authority, by the various institutions involved in Zorrotzaurre aimed at enabling the filling in that is anticipated for Deusto canal to be undertaken.
The agreement represents the kick-off of the project to physically modify the course of Deusto canal, which would result in some 50,000 sq. m. being gained which form part of the Zorrotzaurre Integrated Action Plan 2.
To this end, the Port Authority will call for tenders for the fill-in works, articulated through an emptio rei speratae property contract. Prior to this, the Council of Ministers must approve the terms and conditions of the tender.
The aim is to award the tender during 2018, whereby the works could begin at the beginning of 2019.
The agreement was signed by: Iñigo de la Serna, Minister of Public Works, José Llorca, Chairman of the State Ports Authority, Iñaki Arriola, Head of the Basque Regional Government Department of the Environment, Regional Planning and Housing, Asier Atutxa, Chairman of the Bilbao Port Authority, Juan Mari Aburto, Mayor of Bilbao and Chairman of the Zorrotzaurre Management Committee and Carlos Quindós, Chairman of the Tender Assessment Board of Zorrotzaurre Execution Unit 1.
