The demolition of 5 former industrial buildings in the area of the Rowing Pavilion next to the Frank Gehry Bridge begins

The Zorrotzaurre Contracting Board has begun the demolition of five unoccupied and disused industrial buildings near the Rowing Pavilion next to the Frank Gehry Bridge.

Demolition has begun after receiving the licence for asbestos removal from Osalan, the Basque Government Health and Safety entity.

The buildings’ prior owners were the companies Suminam (Plant hire), Mefade (part machining) and Saico (industrial supplies). The demolition will free up 2,543 m2 for the new uses established under the Special Plan, which, for this area, comprise housing and open spaces.

The demolition is scheduled to last one and a half months.
